Description of role:

This not-for-profit organisation is seeking an experienced Commercial Accountant to join on an ongoing temporary assignment, initially expected to last around six months, with potential for extension. Reporting to the Head of Planning and Reporting, the role will support the FP&A function by improving consistency, driving efficiencies, and delivering high-quality financial insight to support organisational objectives. The role is fully remote and can be offered on a 5 or 4 days week basis offering genuine flexibility.

Working closely with finance and operational stakeholders, the Commercial Accountant will provide insightful analysis, management accounts commentary, and performance reporting to support decision-making across the organisation. A key focus will be conducting deep dives into regional and service-level performance, understanding key financial drivers, challenging cost control and productivity, and sharing best practice to help improve outcomes across the group.

The role will also play a key part in process improvement and change initiatives, including supporting ERP-related projects, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment, and improving the efficiency and accuracy of financial processes. The ability to clearly communicate financial information to non-finance stakeholders is essential, along with a collaborative, business-partnering approach aligned to a values-driven environment.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (CIMA or QBE) with proven experience in commercial finance or FP&A, strong analytical skills, and advanced Excel capability. You will be comfortable working in a fast-moving, change-focused environment and able to add value quickly within a temporary, project-based role. Experience within the not-for-profit, charity, or values-led sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
