Receptionist | Full-Time | Law Firm
Salary: £26,000 – £28,0000 

We are working with a well-established law firm seeking a professional, confident, and highly organised Receptionist to join its Operations team. This front-of-house role is critical to the smooth running of the firm and to delivering a high standard of client care in a legal environment.

The Receptionist will work alongside the Senior Receptionist and Office Assistant, reporting to the IT & Administration Director, and will be an integral part of the Operations team.

Working Hours Reception is staffed Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 6:00pm, with the Receptionist role operating on a rotating weekly shift pattern:
  • 8:30am – 5:00pm
  • 9:30am – 6:00pm
Occasional out-of-hours work may be required to support internal or client events. This will be agreed in advance and paid as overtime.

Salary: £26,000 – £28,000 DOE with an annual review each April.
Dress Code: Smart professional attire is required at all times due to the front-of-house nature of the role.

Key Responsibilities Reception & Front of House
  • Open and close reception as required
  • Maintain a professional, welcoming and tidy reception area
  • Answer and accurately transfer incoming telephone calls
  • Manage walk-in enquiries in a professional manner
  • Ensure reception documentation and displays are current
  • Monitor client facilities and report any issues
Client & Visitor Experience
  • Greet clients and visitors courteously and professionally
  • Manage coats, umbrellas and personal items
  • Notify relevant partners or fee-earners of client arrivals
  • Offer refreshments and liaise with support staff as required
  • Keep clients informed of any delays
Meeting Rooms
  • Prepare boardrooms and meeting rooms for client meetings
  • Ensure rooms are comfortable, presentable and reset promptly
  • Act as first point of contact for meeting room queries
  • Assist with AV and presentation requirements when required
Post & Administrative Support
  • Scan and distribute incoming post and courier deliveries
  • Assist with physical post distribution as required
  • Manage email enquiries and switchboard communications
  • Update switchboard services on staff movements
  • Ensure adequate supplies of stationery and refreshments
General Support
  • Report facilities or maintenance issues
  • Provide cover for the Senior Receptionist and Office Assistant
  • Support the Operations team with ad hoc administrative tasks during quieter periods
Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous experience in a law firm or professional services environment is highly desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Professional, calm and client-focused approach
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills, with confidence learning new systems
