Onboarding Clerk Salary: £24,000–£28,000 (DOE)

A respected and well-established law firm is seeking a professional and detail-oriented Onboarding Clerk to join its client intake and compliance team. This is a key client-facing administrative role focused on delivering a smooth, compliant, and efficient onboarding experience for new clients.

Your responsibilities will include coordinating client documentation, completing regulatory compliance checks, and ensuring all required information is gathered so legal teams can begin work promptly.

Your responsibilities will include coordinating client documentation, completing regulatory compliance checks, and ensuring all required information is gathered so legal teams can begin work promptly.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage initial client enquiries via phone and email, providing a friendly and professional introduction to the firm
- Prepare and issue onboarding documentation, including terms of business and client care letters
- Open and close client files accurately using case management software
- Conduct key compliance checks such as ID verification, conflict searches, and AML/CDD assessments
- Gather required client information, including identification and source of funds/wealth details
- Update and improve onboarding templates, procedures, and checklists in line with SRA and GDPR requirements
- Provide general administrative support to legal teams, including diary management and correspondence
- Follow up with clients to obtain any outstanding documentation or information
- Previous experience in a legal, administrative, or customer service environment (legal sector experience preferred)
- Basic understanding of AML, CDD, and regulatory compliance (advantageous but not essential)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
- Confident with Microsoft Office and able to learn new software quickly
- Professional, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
